Every championship season has a good story behind it. Lots of good stories in this one. The Giants team that won the series was not the same team that started the season, not on the roster certainly. This team was pieced together over the course of a tumultuous (tortured?) season. Role players were added as the season wore on. The team slipped to fourth place. Changes were made to the starting rotation when every starter was struggling, even Lincecum lost 5 in a row in August. And then, somehow, it all came together. The Padres collapsed, the Giants got hot. By October, it just looked like this team had that special spark. They were confident, even when no one outside of San Francisco had confidence in them. For all the change they went through over the season, the core players — the ace pitcher, the closer, the veteran leaders — they stayed the same, and they delivered the championship that Giants fans were dreaming of.
This poster captures all that. Part historical record, part wall art. A great gift for the long-suffering Giants superfan. Order a full-size copy here.
